Patriots Hall

Washington Memorial Chapel should be accessible, comfortable, and convenient for everybody, including people with mobility issues and physical disabilities. The absence of an accessible route from the Chapel to the community spaces on our main floor and the lack of ADA accessible restrooms throughout our campus inconveniences a significant number of people who want to participate in our services and our community events. These deficiencies also hinder our community partners who often use our spaces for their own events.

Completion of this project will also ensure that we can better serve the more than 35,000 people who tour the Chapel annually. Being a welcoming place is at the heart of our mission. Fr. Burk, who founded the Chapel, wrote: “Washington Memorial Chapel is Valley Forge. There no American is an Alien. There all differences are forgotten and Jew and Gentile, Roman Catholic and Protestant worship side by side in the great American Brotherhood.”

As we continue to attract more people to this vibrant community, we view the Chapel Accessibility Project as essential to ensuring that those who visit – for whatever the purpose may be – will immediately see and understand that they are welcome here. With your support, we can make this dream a reality.
